Piano Lessons

Learning piano at the Heart Song Piano Studio in Seattle is fun and is best suited for students age 7 and up.  Both adults and children do extremely well with this particular method.

The Fundamental Goal of the Heart Song Piano Studio is to maximize the likelihood that students will retain music as a lifelong companion.  There are four specific goals I have for my students:

  • Experience playing as a natural self-expression;

  • Play a vast repertoire covering a broad array of musical styles and genres;

  • Develop the ability to progress independently. This includes developing a foundation in music reading, writing, composition, improvisation, arrangement, structure and theory;

  • Have a highly positive, self-affirming experience throughout the music learning process.

 Summer Workshops

The perfect time to try out piano is over the summer months. The summer workshop will allow you to experience playing and learning piano with the support of a group. Held over 4 consecutive weeks starting July, we will learn a piece from each of the genres (classical, modern, blues and accompaniment) and explore composition an improvisation. Groups will consist of 2 - 5 children/adults. Contact us for more details.

Group Lessons

Learning music with others is fun and inspiring. Small groups consist of 2-5 students of a similar standard and age. We move forward at a considerable pace and having others to learn with keeps you accountable and motivated. Group lessons are dynamic and a lot of fun, not to mention the constant performance practice you naturally get by learning and playing with others in a group setting.

Book into an free information session for a demonstration of how we might go about learning a piece in a group setting.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are good for those who need a little extra attention. The one-on-one tuition can be a great way to get the best out of your piano lessons. You will still have the enjoyment of playing with other musicians at our regular recitals and get-togethers.

Learn at your own pace with a tailored program to suit your style, musical taste and lifestyle.

Parents role in the learning process...

The parents role is crucial to the success of your child continuing their piano education on a long term basis and becoming proficient musicians.

You will need to attend your child's piano lesson so that you understand the importance of what they are learning and how you can help at home. Being part of the lesson empowers you with the understanding of the teaching method and enables you to share the enjoyment of learning.

Helping with the daily practice provides a valuable bonding experience as your children become proficient and confident at the piano.

Playing the piano is a long term relationship, and as we all know, long term relationships are a constant learning process. When your child begins piano, your hope is that they will continue to play into their adult years and far beyond. By sharing in this process of learning, you will be able to help them navigate all the ups and downs that they will experience as you do with any long term relationship. Being able to navigate this relationship is what makes us successful as musicians.
